I am in love with this style of cake decorating! Hombre? Check! Roses? Check! Elegant? Check! Yummy, oh hell yeah!
Hombre Rose Cake
I can’t wait to make more of these! This particular cake was for a sweet friend of my daughter’s for a very small, intimate wedding. She was thrilled, her family delighted and myself-oh so happy to make something special for a special someone 🙂
Last year I completed 3 yes 3 whole 5k walk/runs. While this may not seem like a lot or even that hard to many, for me it was a challenge and a welcome one at that. Considering less than a year ago I could barely walk down my hallway and up until around the time of my first 5k I would definitely be exhausted and in so much pain that I would lie down after very little exertion of any kind. We’re talking if I stood for any length of time, say going to the grocery store or cleaning one or two rooms in my house, I was done. Finished. Out of commission for the rest of the day and sometimes for two days. Working my way through the first 5k was challenging. By the time the second 5k came around I was getting stronger. When it was time for the third and final 5k of 2013 I knew I was only going to keep working to get better and faster!
Now around a month later and a few weeks into the new year I am working hard to not only complete the 5k walk/runs I have planned, I’m also working to get faster. My hope is to complete 12-5ks this year! I began walking 3 miles each day and so far so good. I’ve only had 1 or 2 days where I absolutely could not do anymore and limped through the rest of the day and tossed and turned at night working through the pain. I am determined to get stronger. I’m determined to do a 15k by year’s end! I am addicted!
I thank my lucky stars for my family who loves me and protects but encourages me. I’m grateful for the friends who have gone out of their way to spend the day with me walking the 5k instead of running. I am blessed that I am able to get up and walk, sometimes with pain each and everyday.
To my girls-you know who you are, be prepared! I am addicted and on a mission to better myself and help raise money and awareness for the causes close to my heart. Hope you are all ready too!!
